Job Summary: Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Environmental Engineering Officer provides an important role in managing projects such as waste management, landfill operations, water quality management, energy management, environmental assessments, updating policies and undertaking studies as required. The Environmental Engineering Officer provides direct interaction, strategic advice, guidance, and coordination of a range of day-to-day Operations issues that require judgement and tactical decision-making within prescribed policy parameters. The role is responsible for providing support to supervisors and staff relating to Operations matters, with emphasis on the Town’s environmental engineering programs and environmental compliance.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have completed post-secondary education in a related environmental studies field, a valid ‘G’ driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. A minimum three (3) years’ previous experience in a related environment and have knowledge of the applicable provincial legislation and regulations (i.e.: Safe Drinking Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Green Energy Act, etc.). This position will require organizational skills, strong communication (written and verbal), and to be proficient with computers and related programs. The target start date for this position is March 15, 2021.
