NURSE PRACTITIONER - Competition #19-129
One Year Contract (Starting Approximately February 2020)

This is an incredible opportunity working with Bonnechere Manor and Miramichi Lodge and their team of medical professionals to work to the full scope of practice for Nurse Practitioners in ensuring optimal care for our residents. This 35 hour per week position is split between both homes.

Reporting to the Directors of Care, the Registered Nurse with Extended Class: RN(EC) privileges (herein referred to as the Nurse Practitioner), is a senior management position with the role of practitioner, consultant, educator and advocate. The RN(EC) works in partnership, offering the full scope of primary health care nurse practitioner practice. He/she functions as a member of the interdisciplinary care team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the resident’s plan of care.

The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the Medical Directors, other physicians and community services and agencies in the provision of primary health care for residents residing in the Homes, and collaborates with the Directors of Care in the provision and advancement of nursing services, and takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Nursing department.

The Nurse Practitioner is required to successfully display the corporate competencies of Honesty & Integrity, Professionalism, Client Service Orientation and Focus on Results.


  • Current certificate of competence as a Registered Nurse with Extended Class privileges with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and successful completion of the Ontario Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program.
  • Experience in gerontological nursing and/or as a primary health care nurse practitioner is preferred.
  • Current Canadian Gerontological Nursing certification or current plans to obtain certification.
  • Current membership in the Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.

Compensation: $59.16 - $67.51, benefits not included.
